Hint Health Invoicing (After 6/1/2023):

To Our Valued SMA Patients,

In order to align with our new invoicing system, we are in the process of switching our billing date and automatic payment dates effective Sept 1st  2023. Moving forward, the bill date will be the first of the month for the previous month’s service (For Example: An invoice dated for 9/1/2023 would be for the billing period of 8/1/2023 – 8/31/2023).

Automatic payments will now take place on the 1st of each month, starting September 1, 2023.

·         If you pay the SMA fee monthly, a bill that is normally due 8/25/2023, will now be due on 9/1/2023.

·         If you pay the SMA fee quarterly, * the bill for the next quarter will be due 10/1/2023 (Rather than 10/25).

·         If you pay the SMA fee semi-annually, * billing dates are January 1, and June 1, (rather than January 25 and June 25).

·         If you pay the SMA fee annually, * the billing date is now January 1 rather than January 25th.

SMA will excuse all late fees for a 2-month period as we continue to transition billing. Please note that for auto payment, no action is needed on your end. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at nreeves@seamedassoc.com or call me at 206-209-4153.

A few reminders about your  enrollment and membership with Seattle Medical Associates:

  • SMA does not provide health insurance coverage and that membership is not a contract for insurance. Additional costs may be incurred for laboratory, medical imaging, surgery, specialist care, emergency department visits, and hospitalization required outside of SMA’s services. SMA encourages you to combine SMA membership with appropriate health insurance coverage. Enrollment in a HMO Insurance Plan will severely limit my Direct Practice Care  Providers (SMA’s) ability to order and direct care.

  • The beneficiary agrees to give up payment for all items and services furnished by SMA and to pay SMA the yearly enrollment fee without regard to any limits that would otherwise apply to what SMA could charge if receiving payment from insurance.

  • Payment for items or services provided under the Seattle Medical Associates enrollment contract is the patient’s responsibility and is not the responsibility of  insurance plan/company.

  • Claims for payment under patients insurance  for services at SMA, should not be submitted, even if  insurance would otherwise cover such items and services.

  • Payment limits under  insurance do not apply to items or services provided under the Seattle Medical Associates enrollment contract.

  • Other supplemental insurance plans may not pay for items or services provided under the Seattle Medical Associates enrollment contract.

  • As an insurance beneficiary, you have the right to receive medical services provided by other physicians for whom payment would be made by insurance.

UPDATE: New Invoicing Platform - Hint Health

Attention SMA Patients:  On June 1st SMA will be transitioning to a new invoicing platform called Hint Health.  This new invoicing platform provides a suite of features that our current platform does not including payment portal, self-service payment updates, and multiple user capabilities (allowing our Front Office to assist with payment updates).  You will all be receiving a letter from SMA further detailing this change, an email discussing this change, and a welcome email from Hint Health.  These communications are designed to make this transition as seamless as possible.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 206-215-2550, option 2.
